Rieko Otsuka

My name is Rieko. I currently live in LA, California. I was born and grew up in Tokyo, Japan. While attending Komae High School, in Tokyo, I studied classes to develop my English language skills. After I graduated high school I traveled to South Korea to study aboard. I lived in Korea for five and a half years. My first year in Korea, Seoul, I studied transitional Korean language at Yonsei University Language School. I advanced my studies receiving my bachelor’s degree in Social Science. I started tutoring Japanese to students in Korea. Through that experience I continued my education receiving my professional Japanese teacher certificate, from Arc Academy, Japanese Language School.

After my time in Seoul, I returned to Japan; completing my Japanese teacher training courses, at Arc Academy Japanese Language School. I became a full time teacher of Japanese language skills at Yu Language Academy , ISSAC Language Institute in Tokyo, Japan. I’ve taught all levels of the Japanese language from beginning classes to advanced learners. I have also taught private lessons in conversation to people from England. This gives me a unique perspective on how difficult it is for students to learn a second language whether a young grade school student or college students. I can assist students in all subjects in the curriculum with Japanese language skills.

I have been tutoring Japanese to American students for years in the US, and also teaching Japanese students of Port of Sacramento Japanese School as a 3rd grade teacher.

Teaching job is my passion and joy.

I look forward to sharing my passion for language.
