This is a 7th-12th grade creative writing class for the three different mediums of the novel, play, and film. Different as they may be, they share the common objective of story-telling. In this class, students will learn to build a story from the ground up, experimenting with all three forms. By the end of the school year, students will have written several short stories in varying formats, worked in collaboration with other students on small projects, collectively written a stage play to be performed by the drama class in the spring, and will have begun, if not finished their own personal story.

My goal as the teacher is to give the students key tools and the confidence to effectively create and record a captivating story for any given audience through any given medium.

Course Details:

• Costs: $75/month ($60/month for non-charter students)

• Grades: 7th - 12th

• Dates:

  • Fall Semester: September 9th - December 9th

  • Spring Semester: January 13th - May 5th

• Time: Mondays from 5:00pm - 6:00pm
